SALINE CO.— In the ever-increasingly confusing discussion over which county officials, present and past, are and are not eligible to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), some Saline County board members voiced concerns over noticing deductions for IMRF are no longer being taken out of their checks.

SALINE CO.—The April monthly meeting of the Saline County board, held on the 24th, was nearly a repeat of the April 15th special meeting wherein the county opted to vacate Rocky Branch Road to allow Peabody Coal to mine Cottage Township…but not quite.

During a special meeting of the Saline County Board tonight, April 15th, one battle between the citizens of Rocky Branch and Peabody Coal was lost.


There were two abstentions: one from board member Joe Jackson and one from board member Bob Oglesby, both citing a conflict of interest. Sources tell Disclosure that one man owned stock in Peabody while the other had a family member who could be affected if the proposals were passed.
