CRAWFORD CO., Ill. – Palestine Police helped out the Illinois Department of Corrections regarding a parolee who was determined AWOL, apparently from his parole.

Chief Jeff Besing advises that at approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning (Friday, September 13, 2019), he arrested Jarrett A. Crampton, 23 of Robinson, on a Department of Correction Parole Warrant for being AWOL (Absent without Leave).

Chief Besing was in the Crawford County Courthouse when he observed Crampton in the courtroom. Besing was able to verify the warrant and took Crampton into custody before he left the courthouse.

Crampton was escorted to the Crawford County Jail where he is being held without bond awaiting extradition back to the Department of Corrections.

Assisting Chief Besing with this incident was Crawford County Sheriff’s court security officer Doug Fitts.
