CLAY COUNTY: Sheriff’s report features a number of driving infractions, wrecks

CLAY CO., Ill. – Clay County Sheriff’s deputies have been dealing with a number of issues that others are having on the roads of the county, along with the usual arrests that sheriff’s departments are prone to tend to.

Here’s the report for August 28 through September 9, as provided by Sheriff Andy Myers.

Aug. 28, Sheila K. Atchison, 52, Louisville, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving While Driver’s License Suspended. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. She posted bond and was released.

Aug. 30, Kristopher Blankenship, 40, St. Elmo, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving While Driver’s License Suspended. Bond set at $5,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He appeared in Clay County court and was released.

Aug. 30, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 4:05 p.m. a mile north of the intersection of U.S. Rt. 45 and Cheetah Lane. Apparently Ambyr Haines, 35, Stewardson, operating a 2001 Ford Taurus, was traveling north on U.S. Route 45, lost control of her vehicle, skidded into the southbound lane and was struck by a 2007 Dodge Dakota operated by Michael Hoekstra, 31, Effingham. Haines was cited for Improper Lane Usage and given a Notice to Appear in Clay County Court. Hoekstra was cited for Driving While Driver’s License Suspended. He was given a Notice to Appear in Clay County Court. Minor injuries reported.

Sept. 1, Paul C. Vessechia, 58, Champaign, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charges of two counts of Unlawful Delivery of Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of Church Property. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.

Sept. 2, Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Dillon M. Sloat, 24, Louisville, on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Forgery. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.

Sept. 3, Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Cyler S. Pride, 25, Flora, on an outstanding ClayCounty warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.

Sept. 8, Jeremy L. Johnson, 44, Olney, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Petition to Revoke Probation on the original charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Bond set at $10,000.00 (10 percent). He is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

Sept. 8, Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested Dawayne J. Knox, 40, Clay City, on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving While Driver’s License Suspended. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.

Sept. 9, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 11:55 a.m. north of the intersection of Xenia/Iola Road and Vandalia Road. Apparently Emily A. Jewell, 33, Flora, operating a 1995 Toyota was traveling southbound on the Xenia/Iola Road, lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway on the west side, then entered the ditch overturning. Jewell was cited for Improper Lane Usage and Failure to Notify Secretary of State Change of Address.  Jewell was transported by medical personnel for her injuries.
