CARMI, Ill. - An inexplicable incident of alleged Domestic Battery sent two females to the White County Jail yesterday, with one having bonded out on her own recognizance.

Police reports don't indicate what the initial problem was, but the matter emerged last night (Tuesday, August 13), when at 6:47 p.m., law enforcement officers were called to a location on the 500 block of Oak Street in Carmi.

There, they found Melody D. Walker, 41, and Jessica Brown, 25, both reporting that address as theirs.

Apparently they were beating each other up at that location, and so officers took them in, each on separate counts: Walker of the more serious Aggravated Domestic Battery (Class 2 felony), and Brown on misdemeanor Domestic Battery.

Ostensibly because it was a misdemeanor, Brown was released on her own recognizance (a promise to appear at the scheduled court date for the misdemeanor).

As of this morning, Walker remained in the city/county jail in Carmi.
