Kid goes to jail tired after attempting to run from cops

Anthony W. Parrish

CARMI, Ill. - Apparently a young Carmi guy was unfamiliar with the old saw "Don't run from the cops; you'll just go to jail tired."

We say that because it appears that's exactly what happened Saturday morning, August 10, when at 9:34 a.m., authorities tried to bring in Anthony W. Parrish, 23 of Fackney Street in Carmi, on a Wabash County warrant.

Parrish, who sports the trendy pseudo-Amish facial hair that so many young people thinks looks awesome but falls short by a few awes, was apparently spotted by Carmi police but instead of coming along peacefully, opted to run, according to reports supplied by Chief Jason Carter.

He was apprehended, however, on the 500 block of Elm Street, and taken into custody.

Somewhere in there between his apprehension and jailing, meth and paraphernalia were alleged to have been found on his person, and so the now-tired Parrish was held on arresting charges of felony Possession of Meth, misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting a Peace Officer and Obstructing Identification, two civil pot charges (Possession of Cannabis less than 10 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) and of course, the Wabash County warrant which is for felony Obstruction of Justice/Intimidating a Witness dating back to 2018.
