Juveniles make police blotter in Carmi

Posted by on Monday, August 12th, 2019 @ 4:12 pm.

CARMI, Ill. - Two incidents Saturday in Carmi involved juveniles getting into trouble for various issues.

The first reported came in very early in the morning (four minutes after midnight) on Saturday, August 10, when a juvenile was picked up for being out after curfew.

This juvenile, age not listed, was taken into custody at Pundrake convenience store and gas station, and toted off to the police department, where he was ostensibly cited for the violation. He was later released to a parent.

A second incident occurred later that night (11:40 p.m.) when Carmi PD took a signed complaint for Criminal Damage to Property.

The damage was alleged to have occurred at Eckerle Park in Carmi, when, the complainant said, a male driving a blue jeep was doing donuts in the park, causing rocks to be thrown onto the complainant’s vehicle, chipping the paint.

Upon arrival at the residence where the suspect vehicle was parked, authorities learned who the suspect was (later identified as a 17-year-old male whose name was redacted as a juvenile)…but he refused to give his information for the report. He was subsequently arrested and fought with those officers attempting to take him into custody.

When the dust settled, the juvenile was charged with No Valid Driver’s License, Obstructing Police, and Resisting a Peace Officer, with the matter of the chipped paint apparently being held for determination at a later time.

In other Carmi PD news, an Enfield woman turned herself in Friday on an outstanding warrant at the city PD.

Sarah Odom

Carmi Police reports indicate that Sarah E. Odom, 25 of that White County village that’s been in the news so much lately, was wanted on a pay-or-appear situation out of the 2014 misdemeanor she was convicted of that year: Domestic Battery Making Physical Contact and Disorderly Conduct.

Odom was able to post bond on the warrant of $520 and a failure to appear fee was also collected.
