FLORA, Ill. - A Flora man is in custody following his arrest Monday on multiple counts, including Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault.

Clay County Sheriff Andy Myers said in a press release today (Wednesday, July 17) that as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office into reports of sexual abuse, James A. Tomasek, 69 of Flora, was taken into custody on June 27, 2019. Tomasek was initially charged with the offense of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and bond was set in the amount of $250,000 (10 percent to apply).

On July 15, 2019 an information was filed by Clay County State’s
Attorney Andrew Koester, alleging two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault against Tomasek. Bond was set in the amount of $1,000,000 (10 percent to apply).

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Flora Police Department, Department of Children and Family Services, and the Clay County State’s Attorney’s Office. Sheriff Myers would like to commend all those involved in this investigation for their time and effort that has led to this arrest.
