Trucker with no insurance causes multiple-car pileup on I-70

FAYETTE CO., Ill. - A Texas semi driver with an unpronounceable name and no insurance caused a multi-vehicle pileup yesterday in Fayette County, but fortunately the injuries were limited to those in the semi and not the other vehicles involved.

Illinois State Police in District 12 Effingham report that the crash occurred yesterday, Thursday, July 11, at 4:11 p.m.

ISP said the preliminary investigation shows that a red 2013 Freightliner truck-tractor/semi trailer being operated by Abdifatah Yusuf, 35 of Amarillo, Texas, was traveling on I-70 westbound at milepost 71, in Fayette County. With Yusuf was passenger Abukar Ibrahim, 32, also of Amarillo.

That semi ran into the rear end of a white 2018 International truck-tractor/semi-trailer being operated by Johnpaul Lavenburg, 52, of Kansas City, Mo. Lavenburg had no passengers

A gray 2012 Ford passenger car being driven by Michael Rednour, 65, of Strongsville, Ohio, then struck the rear end of the Freightliner. With Rednour was passenger Carol Rednour, 62, also of Strongsville.

A gray 2019 Toyota passenger car being driven by Robert Yagmin, 45 of Kansas City, in turn ran into the rear end of Rednour's Ford. With Yagmin were passengers Candice Yagmin, 46, also of Kansas City, and two male juveniles, ages 12 and 13.

As a result of the collision, Yusuf's Freightliner left the roadway and entered the center median.

Yusuf and Ibrahim were transported to Fayette County Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Yusuf, however, was later transferred to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with incapacitating injuries.

Yusuf was later and not unsurprisingly cited for Improper Lane Usage, No Insurance, and No Seatbelt.

A huge number of foreign individuals - whether here legally or not - have taken to the highways in recent years and have been improperly certified to get behind the wheel of a big rig, which very frequently results in traffic accidents such as this. Over the last four years, many auto and truck repair shop owners have confirmed this with Disclosure; so be safe out there, as the non-American truckers might not have your best interests in mind.
