WHITE CO., Ill. - Hydroplaning during the heavy rains and high winds today caused an Eldorado driver to leave the highway and crash into trees on U.S. 45, according to an accident report from Illinois State Police.

ISP in District 19 Carmi report that the single-vehicle crash occurred at 4 p.m. today, Friday, June 21.

Preliminary traffic crash investigation indicates that Nancy A. Racine, 63 of Eldorado, was operating a red 2000 Mazda pickup truck northbound on US 45 near the intersection of White County road 125E in the rain. Racine stated that her vehicle began to hydroplane. This caused the vehicle to lose control and leave the roadway on the right side, striking a ditch embankment and numerous trees. ISP said that hazardous weather conditions, intense rain and strong winds contributed to the incident.

Racine incurred minor injuries and was transported to Ferrell hospital by the White County ambulance. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Jones Towing from Omaha.

No citations were issued.
