BUSY Monday for Mt. Carmel City Police

MT. CARMEL, Ill. - Keeping the streets of Mt. Carmel in Wabash County safe for the law-abiding can take a heavy turn sometimes, as MCPD prove in this report of four incidents on Monday, June 10.

The first occurred when Mt. Carmel Police arrested Travis R. Sergent, 27 of Princeton, Ind., for Driving While License Suspended following a traffic stop at 6th and Bellmont streets. During the stop the arresting officer learned that Sergent had a suspended Indiana driver’s license. Sergent was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was issued citations for Driving While License Suspended, Disobeying a Stop Sign, and Operating Uninsured Vehicle. Sergent was held pending the posting of bond.  

MCPD next arrested Jeremy S. Litherland, 39 of Mt. Carmel, for Domestic Battery following a domestic dispute at a residence in the 100 block of Jacques Street. As officers investigated the dispute they found evidence to indicate that Litherland had battered a family member within the home. Litherland was taken into custody and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged and held pending a bond setting by a judge.   

Then Mt. Carmel Police arrested Andrew Ellis, 30 of Fort Branch, Ind., on a Wabash County Failure to Appear Warrant. Police were assisting another agency at a residence in the 500 block of Sharp Ave. when they found that Ellis, who was present in the home, had a warrant. Ellis was taken into custody and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was served the warrant and held pending the posting of bond. 

Lastly, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Blaze L. White, 20 of Mt. Carmel, on a Wabash County Failure to Appear Warrant and Resisting/ Obstructing a Peace Officer. The arresting officer observed Blaze in the 1000 block of West 9th Street and knew he was wanted. The officer approached White at which time he fled on foot. White was eventually taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. White was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged and held pending the posting of bond.
