WHITE CO., Ill. - Acts of thievery of large items have been reported out of White County, and while one items has been recovered, the second is still the subject of investigation and authorities are seeking info.

The first report came about on Friday (May 31), when at about 1 p.m., Deputy Randy Graves took a theft report from Louis Evans, 44, on the 800 block of North State Street.

Evans advised that he owns a white 2004 gas powered Club Car golf cart, described as having a front seat and a seat facing backwards, with a back rest on one of the seats having a cloth-like material covering it. The cart, Evans said, was purchased for $3,000 cash, and was no longer where he'd parked it. He was considering it stolen, and wished to make a report.

The next day (Saturday, June 1) at approximately 9 a.m., the golf cart was recovered at the location of 408 Rawlinson Street. Someone had driven the golf cart into the back yard of this location, and the cart was stuck in the yard. It was pulled from the mud and returned to Evans.

The next report was generated Sunday, June 2, at about ten til 6 p.m. This was when Ricky D. Duckworth, 56 of County Road 1500N, Enfield, reported an implement missing from his property.

Duckworth advised that this was an Allis Chalmers hay rake, described as PTO driven/side delivery and orange in color, that had been taken from his property without his permission.

Duckworth advised that the hay rake was sitting out in his pasture at the time it was taken, and that it had been a couple of weeks since he'd last observed it, but yesterday at 2 p.m. was when he'd noticed it was gone.

Interestingly, Duckworth noted that the hay rake had been listed in an upcoming auction, with a value to be around $300-$500.
