Vehicle crash at Executive Mansion in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Illinois State Police was tasked with the investigation following a vehicle crash at the Executive Mansion in Springfield last night.

The single-vehicle crash was reported by ISP to have occurred at 8:23 p.m. yesterday, Friday, May 17, 2019.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2010 Mercedes-Benz Utility being driven by Nils R. Thunman, 87 of Springfield, was exiting the Illinois Executive Mansion grounds near the 4th Street Gate.  The driver inadvertently pressed the accelerator and struck the west side wall of the Illinois Executive Mansion grounds.

No injuries were sustained in the crash. Additionally, no citations were issued.
