Jeremy Allen

CARMI, Ill. - A man with varying addresses (one in Carmi, one in Salem) was behind bars as of this morning (Wednesday, March 13) after an incident at a Carmi laundromat that got him charged with Aggravated Battery.

Carmi police officials say that Jeremy Scott Allen, 40, reporting an address on the 200 block of North Main Cross in Carmi as well as one on the 500 block of Markland Ave. in Salem up in Marion County, was taken into custody last night (Tuesday, March 12) after an incident at Third Street Laundry in Carmi.

While there are no details provided regarding the incident, reports show that he was taken into custody at 7:31 p.m. and booked on a preliminary charge of Aggravated Battery.

As of this morning, he was being held on an unspecified bond amount. That might be because White County authorities are probably looking into the matter: Allen is currently on a two-year conditional discharge sentence, handed to him in late November 2018, after he pled guilty to Driving on a Revoked/Suspended License following a second DUI conviction.

Jeffrey S. Churchwell

Earlier Tuesday, another Carmi resident caught some trouble as well.

Details on this incident are missing, too, but what we do know from police reports is that Jeffrey S. Churchwell, 46 and sporting an address on Sixth Street in Carmi, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a misdemeanor Domestic Battery count, this at 12:36 p.m.

Churchwell, as of this morning, remained behind bars.

And lastly, a return of a familiar name graced the Carmi City Police reports.

Harley J. Lewallen

Harley J. Lewallen, 46 of Carmi, was stopped at Tenth and Lagoon, according to police reports, and arrested for driving on a revoked driver's license yesterday morning at 9:25 a.m.

He, unlike the previous two guys, was able to post bond and not have to sit behind bars for any measurable period of time.
