Elizabethtown truck driver victim of Wabash County traffic crash

WABASH CO., Ill. - A young man from Elizabethtown in Hardin County was behind the wheel of a big rig when it was struck by another driver in Wabash County yesterday (Monday, February 11.)

Illinois State Police in District 19 Carmi said the two-vehicle collision occurred on Illinois Route 1 north of Mt. Carmel at 6:16 p.m. last night.

At that time, Blake D. Patton, 29 of E-town, was driving a 2010 Kenworth truck-tractor semi-trail combination, traveling south on Route 1 at Wabash County Road 1550 N (Poor Farm Road).

A Mt. Carmel woman, Donna K. Hedge, 66, was driving a gray 2018 Toyota RAV-4. She proceeded east through a stop sign on Poor Farm Road and struct Patton's truck on the passenger side.

Hedge was transported to Wabash General Hospital for minor injuries; Patton was uninjured. The RAV-4 was towed from the scene; Patton was able to drive his truck tractor semi from the scene.

District 19 acknowledges assistance from the Mt. Carmel Fire Department, Wabash County Ambulance, Wabash County Sheriff's Office, Mt. Carmel Police Department and Rick's Towing.
