Edwards County State’s Attorney recaps sentencing of Albion man in December

EDWARDS CO., Ill. - Edwards County State's Attorney Eric St. Ledger has announced the sentencing of a problem crim in his county who has been in the news far too many times in recent months.

Kenneth E. Bryant, 45 of Albion, was sentenced Friday, December 21, 2018, to a term of six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by a term of a year of parole.

Bryant pled guilty to the offense of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a felon.

St. Ledger prosecuted the case on behalf of the people and conflicts public defender Jay Walden of Grayville represented Bryant. The case was investigated by the Edwards County Sheriff's Office.

St. Ledger said that after failing to return to the White county Jail as ordered by the court, Bryant pled guilty and was sentenced to a term of eight years in IDOC, followed by a term of a year of parole in his Class 3 felony offense of Escape, with that 8-year sentence to run consecutive to the previous sentence of six years in the previously-mentioned case, yielding a total sentence to IDOC of 14 years.

Bryant represented himself in the EC cases.
