WHITE CO.: Theft of handicapped license plate reported to sheriff’s department

Posted by on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 @ 1:45 pm.

WHITE CO., Ill. - Someone is apparently in the market for a better parking spot, if a theft of a handicapped license plate in White County is any indication.

This happened last Thursday (January 3, 2019), a little late for Christmas shopping, but maybe the thief hopes to capitalize on upcoming holidays and grab that good parking spot for Valentine's Day.

At about 3:30 p.m. on the 3rd, one Christine Mick, 58, reported to Sheriff's Sgt. Craig Poole at the Sheriff's Department that she'd had a plate set stolen off a vehicle sitting in her yard.

Mick gave the numbers from the plate set, noting that it was a handicapped license plate; the vehicle was a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer. Mick said she knew the plates were on the truck as of a week before. The vehicle was parked by the corner of the garage on the property.

The plate was entered into the LEADS system, where all law enforcement will be able to see it and where the driver of whatever vehicle displaying it will be toted off to jail...so thief, consider yourself warned.
