Eldorado teen boys recovering after traffic crash in front of McDonald’s

ELDORADO, Ill. -- Three Eldorado teens involved in a weekend traffic crash are said to be recovering from injuries sustained in the wreck, which occurred right in front of McDonald's in Eldorado.

Accident reports indicate that at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday (January 5), the three boys were leaving Eldorado McD's and attempting to cross lanes on Illinois Route 142, on which the restaurant sits, running north/south.

A truck headed southbound on 142 was unable to stop or avoid the car, and the two vehicles collided.

One of the teen boys was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Evansville, with another taken by ambulance to same. The third teen in the car, as well as the driver of the truck, were treated at the scene. Reports of the accident are apparently purposefully vague, possibly because of the ages of the boys, so at this point, it's impossible to know which one was which as regards who was driving the car the teen boys were in.

However, Eldorado police (the agency working the wreck, probably accounting for the purposely-vague reports) have said that the teenage driver could be charged with Failure to Yield to Right-of-Way.

While local media didn't name the boys, Eldorado High School's Facebook page at least gave their identities in the form of photos and first names in the form of a vague post that prompted more questions than gave answers; a screencap is shown above.
