SALINE CO., Ill. - Saline County Coroner Jerry Watson has released information about the death of newly-elected Saline County Clerk Roger Craig.

Craig, 57, passed away the morning of Wednesday, December 12 at his residence in Harrisburg.

Watson advised that Craig died from Hepatic Failure. He was under the care of Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Craig, who was a former (and vocal) Saline County Board member, won the March Primary this year on the Republican ticket to make former three-term County Clerk Kim Buchanan a lame duck going into the November Mid-terms. He edged ahead of Democrat contender Julie Dunn in that election to win the seat, and just two weeks ago was sworn in.
