WHITE CO., Ill. - Some people just have to learn to follow the law the hard way.

That would be the case in the arrest of a young Carmi man yesterday morning, according to Carmi Police officials in their report of activity for the department on Wednesday, November 7.

At 9:09 a.m., Carmi police observed a white Chrysler with Illinois plates that did not belong on the registered vehicle. A traffic stop was performed, and officers discovered that the plates on the vehicle were indeed not registered to that car.

The driver, Robert Anthony Belka, 28, of Carmi, was discovered to have a revoked driver's license. During a search of the vehicle and driver, cannabis and smoking pipes were also located.

Belka was arrested for Driving While License Revoked and for Unlawful Registration Display. He was additionally cited for Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Belka was able to post $150 cash bond and a $20 fee to secure his release.
