WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. - A three-vehicle rear-ending situation sent one Marion man to a local hospital and left several others with minor injuries earlier this afternoon.

Illinois State Police worked the wreck, which occurred at 2:35 p.m.today (Tuesday, October 9) on Illinois Route 37, a half-mile south of Stotlar Road in Williamson County.

ISP said that the preliminary investigative details indicate three vehicles were northbound on 37: A 2003 Ford Mustang being driven by Brent A. Pulley, 34, of Marion; a 1995 Chevy Silverado being driven by Kelcie M. Beers, 24 of Marion; and a 2005 Buick Le Sabre bring driven by Robert E. French, 87 of Marion. With French was a passenger, Carol G. French, 86, of Herrin.

The Buick was the lead vehicle, stopped behind a school bus, followed by the Silverado, then the Mustang. Beers slowed the Silverado more aggressively than the driver of the Mustang was anticipating and, unable to stop in time, struck the rear of the Silverado, pushing it into the rear of the Buick.

The Mustang had to be towed from the scene due to damage; all other vehicles were driven away.

Pulley had what ISP termed incapacitating injuries and was transported via ambulance to a local hospital. Beers and both Frenches received minor injuries but refused transport for treatment.

Pulley was cited for Following Too Closely.
