CARMI, Ill. - Carly Schmittler, who assisted the three jail escapees and is now off to prison, wasn't the only person sentenced in White County Circuit Court today (Monday, July 9).

Robert W. Worley, a local problem child, was also sentenced to several years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

White County State's Attorney Denton Aud said Worley, 23 of Carmi, was sentenced on four different felony cases today which amounts to a total sentence of 10 years IDOC.

Worley's sentence involves these cases, all of them occurring this year:

Aggravated DUI While License Revoked (Class 4 felony) case 2018-CF-58
Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police (Class 4 felony) case 2018-CF-68
Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer (Class 2 felony) case 2018-CF-109
Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police (Class 4 felony) case 2018-CF-118

Aud broke it down like this: The sentences imposed in 2018-CF-58 and 2018-CF-68 are to run concurrently. The sentences imposed in 2018-CF-109 and 2018-CF-118 are to run concurrently with one another but must be served consecutively to the sentences imposed in 2018-CF-58 and 2018-CF-68. In essence, Worley was sentenced to ten (10) years in IDOC, having previously pled guilty to 2018-CF-58 and 2018-CF-68 and was released on bond until the sentencing hearing. While on bond, he committed the new offenses of 2018-CF-109 and 2018-CF-118 meaning that they would be served consecutively.

The Illinois State Police was the original arresting agency in the matter of 2018-CF-58. Norris City Police Department was the arresting agency in 2018-CF-68, 2018-CF-109, and 2018-CF-118. Public Defender Brian Shinkle represented Worley while State’s Attorney Denton Aud represented the State. Judge T. Scott Webb was the sentencing judge in this matter.
