WHITE CO., Ill. - Damage was reported to area oil leases this past weekend in White County.

Deputy Randy Graves reported that he responded to the first incident at 1:41 p.m. Saturday, May 12, with the location being four-tenths of a mile south of 1350N at nine-tenths of a mile east of 2050E, on a dead end road and very far from any houses. Further, the location is hidden in a woods and a person would have to know where it was in order to locate it; Graves reported that the lease belongs to Golden heirs.

The items taken from the scene were approximately thirty 150-pound weights from a well pumping unit. The pumping unit was in the air approximately 15 feet due to water at times. It was reported to Graves that the unit was shut off by the suspect. It then had the nuts taken off the end of the weights, causing the weights to fall off the unit. The weights fell on the 208 motor, causing damage to the motor. They were then thrown to the ground, where they were loaded into a vehicle.

Graves reported that he was unable to locate a good tire track at the lease.

Another report came in this morning (Monday, May 14) when at approximately a quarter to 8 this morning, one John Wolf noticed items stolen from a pulling unit located at 2250N, approximately 50 yards west of 1950E in the Calvin area of northeastern White County. The pulling unit is owned by Wood Energy.

Graves reported that the suspect had chained off the back blocks with the guide wire to the pulling unit pole, then lifted the pulling unit brake to remove the rod hook. The suspect then took the pickle off the wires. It was noted that the pickle weighs approximately 300 to 400 pounds; and the cost for a new pickle is $2,000.
