CARMI, Ill. - A Carmi business was robbed at gunpoint Monday night, March 12.

Police Chief Jason Carter has advised that at approximately 11:26 p.m. last night, Carmi dispatch received a 911 calla s well as a panic alarm call to Rock Bottom Liquor, located across the Fairgrounds on Highway 1 at the Fairview Drive turn.

Police arrived in under a minute, Carter said.

Upon arrival, officers were informed that they business had just been robbed at gunpoint by a male subject who left immediately; the owners had not seen a direction of travel when the robber departed.

Upon review of surveillance, officers observed a male subject wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, black sunglasses and a black mask running into the business, pointing a gun at the two owners inside.

The owners were placed on the ground at gunpoint while the subject took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing the building.

Although most of the subject was covered, it appeared to have been a white male.

The scene was processed for evidence and video from the business as well as neighboring businesses have been obtained and are being reviewed.
