WILLIAMSON CO.: 30-year anniversary of cold case double homicide

Posted by on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 @ 4:28 pm.

WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. - Today (March 11) marks the 30th anniversary of the cold case murders of Orville Murphy, 49, and his wife Eileen, 47, in Williamson County.

The couple was found by a relative that evening in 1988. Both Murphy and his wife were found murdered, having been found with multiple gunshot wounds in their home just south of Whiteash. Eileen had seen it coming and had placed her hands over her face. The shots penetrated her hands.

The murders were thought to be connected to a large cocaine ring operating in Williamson County at the time. In 1990, a special agent for the DEA testified at the hearing of those men that there was a possible connection. Those men all served time for their connection to the cocaine ring but no one was ever charged in the Murphy murders.

The Murphys' children have never given up hope that one day justice will be served. They are hoping someone will remember something that wasn’t told before or that the person or persons will have a change of heart and come forward. Karma has struck two of the men involved with running the cocaine: debilitating illnesses. Murphy’s ex son in-law is currently serving time for meth-related murder. He was not involved in cocaine trafficking at the time.

You can read about the cocaine ring here.

If you have any information please come forward to any authorities, who will pass the info along to the proper officials.
