CUMBERLAND CO., Ill. - A Friday evening accident left a driver from Champaign cited and another driver from Naperville sent to a hospital with minor injuries after her vehicle overturned on Interstate 57.

Illinois State Police in District 12 said the two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 6:27 p.m. Friday, March 9.

Preliminary investigative details indicate that a red 2010 Ford Focus being driven by Brianna K. Morton, 21, of Champaign, was traveling northbound in the left lane of I-57 in Cumberland County. With Morton was a passenger, Jeffrey D. Morton, 55, also of Champaign.

While trying to execute a lane change into the right lane, Morton's car struck the rear driver's side of a white 2010 Dodge Caliber being driven by Katie A. Reis, 23, of Naperville, which was already occupying the right lane.

The collision caused Reis' Dodge to skid off the roadway into the median, striking several wooden crash posts, and then overturn before coming to rest on its top in the southbound lanes of traffic.

Morton also lost control of her Ford and entered the center median, striking the ditch/embankment in the median before coming to rest in median.

Reis was transported by ambulance to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon for treatment of minor injuries. Brianna Morton was cited for Improper Lane Usage.
