Lawrenceville man arrested in Clay on FTA in sheriff’s report

CLAY CO., Ill. - The Clay County Sheriff's Department report provided by Sheriff Andy Myers is lead with a February 4 incident involving a Lawrenceville man.

Myers said that Christopher Tewell, 42, Lawrenceville, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Bond set at $5,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. Tewell posted bond and was released.

Feb. 5, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy cited Dominique Gayden, 29, McComb, Mississippi, for Improper Lane Usage. He was given a Notice to Appear and released.

Feb. 6, Clay County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Timothy Kerr, 45, Louisville, was arrested for Financial Exploitation of the Elderly. Bond set at $15,000.00 (10 percent). He is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

Coty Workman

Feb. 7, Clay County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Coty J. Workman, 28, Flora, for Violation of Bond and Criminal Damage to Property. Bond set at $20,000.00 (10 percent). He is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

Feb. 8, Marcus Pierson, 42, Decatur, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving While Driver's License. Bond set at
$3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.

Steven Wathan

Feb. 8, Steven Michael Wathan, 40, Flora, was arrested on two outstanding Clay County warrants. The first for Domestic Battery, bond set at $15,000.00 (10 percent), and the second Felony Driving While Driver's License Revoked, bond set at $15,000.00 (10 percent). He is currently incarcerated in the Clay County Jail.

Feb. 8, the Clay County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 12:25 p.m. east of the intersection of U.S. Hwy 50 and Mayflower Road. Apparently Dale Cailteux, 51, Clay City, was stopped at the construction east of Clay City, when another eastbound vehicle, a 2017 Buck operated by Cathy Halter, 69, Vincennes, Indiana, failed to stop and struck the Cailteux vehicle. No injuries reported. Halter was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
