ISP says single-vehicle accident caused by driving too fast for conditions

EFFINGHAM CO., Ill. - Illinois State Police have cited a Mt. Vernon, Ill., man for Driving Too Fast For Conditions on an icy Effingham County road this morning.

ISP in District 12 said that the accident occurred at 10:10 a.m. this morning, Sunday, February 11.

Preliminary investigative details indicate that a tan 2007 Chevy passenger car being driven by Devin M.R. Durbin, 22, of Mt. Vernon, was westbound on County Road 750E near Co. Rd. 200N in Effingham County.

With Durbin was 19-year-old Nikita S. Durbin, and 4-month-old Annalida L. Durbin, both also of Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Durbin admitted to traveling too fast for conditions and losing control of his vehicle. The car swerved off the roadway to the right, struck the ditch, and overturned, coming to a resting point on its top of the north side of the roadway.

All occupants were transported from the scene to St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham.

Along with the too fast for conditions citation, Durbin was also cited for Operating Uninsured.
