ANOTHER SHOOTING: No one hurt in latest Harrisburg turf war incident

Gerald R. Williams, from the December arrest

HARRISBURG, Ill. - Authorities this morning are still working another shooting that took place early today, Saturday, February 10, on the south side of Harrisburg.

While details are scant, it appears that the shooting took place between the early morning hours of 1 and 2 a.m., at a location in the vicinity of Dorrisville Baptist Church, which is on South Feazel at the intersection of West Dorris, although the exact address has not been issued at this time.

Hamilton, from one of his many arrests a few years back.

What we do know is that the residence is where local crim Ian Hamilton, 23, was hanging with a female friend, who remains unnamed at this point.

Hamilton, we've learned, is being very cooperative with police, who responded very quickly and have been processing the scene thoroughly. That involves confirming Hamilton's story that he thought he heard gunshots striking something outside, and when he went out to check, he saw someone walking in the vicinity, and his vehicle had been hit by rounds from an unknown weapon. Hamilton then said he got in his vehicle and drove off.

Gerald R. Williams, from the December arrest

Arrested was a man who was picked up back in December for roughly the same thing: Gerald R. Williams, 31, currently of Harrisburg. It's alleged that Williams did another "walk-by" shooting, as in he was on foot when it's alleged that he fired at the residence, striking Hamilton's car. Arresting charges in this morning's incident are listed at Saline County Detention Center as two counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm; and single counts each of Unlawful Possession of a Weapons by a Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Williams is already out on bond from the December 4 incident, in which he was discovered sauntering up the street from a shooting on South Jackson, and was found to allegedly be in possession of a firearm...which he couldn't be, as he's a felon. He was charged at that time with only two Class 2 felony counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and is set for a February 22 prelim on that...a setting that's been delayed three times since Williams was able to post bond. He was NOT charged with any shooting counts.

In this case, Hamilton's vehicle and the weapon allegedly used in the shooting have both been recovered, so it's going to be heftier for Williams..

A motive for the incident has not been given, but those of us in Saline who know what's going on can accurately surmise it.

Be watching for the big Primary Election Edition coming to stands on February 21, where we hope to have a little more material for an in-depth piece on this and other incidents occurring around the area. Don't miss any of this...the turf war isn't being talked about by any other media (which might be why they're folding left and right), but it's happening, and we'll continue to report it for what it is instead of watering it down.
