SALINE CO.— A two-vehicle accident this morning (Wednesday, February 7) due to icy road conditions resulted in both drivers being taken to an area hospital.

Authorities say that at 9:04 a.m. Carson N. Carter, 20, of Carmi, was operating a gray 2016 Toyota Corolla northbound on College Road, approximately one mile south of Kaid Road, when she lost control on the icy roadway and slid into the southbound lane, striking a white 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Hannah N. Pettijohn, 18, of Norris City.

Following the impact, both vehicles left the roadway and needed to be towed from the scene.

Both passengers were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.
