SALINE CO., Ill. - There are two arrests to report out of Saline County so far this week, with one being the kind of thing that begs for a follow up.

James D. Briggs

The first to report, however, is that of James D. Briggs, 28, of Morganfield, Kentucky, who was arrested on Monday, January 8, on a warrant of Theft Under $500. He remains in custody at the Saline County Detention Center on a bond of $500.

The second, however, is a local guy, who was charged with something that isn't a run-of-the-mill crim incident in Saline.

Michael R. Crank

Michael R Crank, 39, of Harrisburg, was arrested yesterday on an EPA violation.

Reports from Saline County don't indicate what it was Crank was alleged to have done that violated Environmental Protection rules and regulations, but we've been advised of what it's about...and it's kind of ridiculous. Be watching the site or the pages of the print version for information.

Crank, the sheriff's department said, posted $100 cash bond and was released from the SCDC.
