CARTERVILLE, Ill. - Another successful bust by the Marion Narcotic Unit has resulted in a Carterville man being arrested on a charge of shipping steroids through the mail, among other counts.

An investigation that began last month prompted the arrest Monday (December 4) of 25-year-old white male, Evan Murphy.

During the investigation authorities learned Murphy was shipping anabolic steroids through multiple shipping companies. The Narcotics Unit had Murphy under surveillance and had intercepted one of his packages; he was subsequently arrested in Marion and found to be in possession of a firearm on his person, for which he did not have a concealed carry permit.

Later a search was conducted at his Carterville residence. The search resulted in additional anabolic steroids, prescription-only medication, an additional pistol and rifle.

His vehicle and additional assets that were used to aid in his assistance of the crime were seized. He was issued citations for Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He taken Monday evening to the Williamson County Jail with no bond; more information will be available on the case when we get it. Be watching.
