Busy Flora police report for end of November and early December

FLORA, Ill. - Flora Police Chief John Nicholson and his crew were busy managing the usual traffic stops as well as the not-so-usual traffic stops that involve alleged meth in this report from November 30 through December 2.

Wednesday, November 29 at 2:12 pm, Flora Police arrested Cassandra Allison, 35, of Flora on a Failure to Appear Warrant out of Richland County. Allison was taken to Flora Police Department for booking procedures prior to being transferred to the custody of Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday, November 30 at 1:19 am, Flora Police arrested Lisa Petrea, 56, of Flora for Improper Lane Usage and DUI, following a traffic stop on Vincennes Avenue. Petrea underwent booking procedures at Flora Police Department and was released with a Notice to Appear.

Thursday, November 30 at 10:30 am, Flora Police investigated a Hit and Run accident involving a 2002 Chevy, operated by Kendra Lemond, 27, of Fairfield and a 2013 Chevy, operated by Sandra Burke, 53, of Olney. Lemond was Cited for Operating Uninsured Vehicle and Leaving the Scene of Accident. No injuries were reported.

Friday, December 1 at 11:04 am, Flora Police arrested Brandon Giddens, 24, of Flora for Aggravated Fleeing with Attempt to Elude, Filing a False Police Report, Driving While License Revoked, Speeding, Operating Vehicle with Expired Registration and Failure to Signal When Required. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on November 19 at 7:38 pm. Giddens was transferred to the custody of Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Andrew J. Staley...apparently, this is how he got caught.

Friday, December 1 at 3:00 pm, Flora Police arrested Andrew Staley, 37, of Flora for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Methamphetamine, Operating Uninsured Vehicle, Improper Use of Registration and No Front/Rear Registration Plate, following a traffic stop on Hwy 50. Staley was transported to Clay County Jail.

Friday, December 1 at 9:44 pm, Flora Police arrested James Ort, 38, of Flora for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Methamphetamine and Outstanding Warrants out of Effingham and Clay County. Ort underwent booking procedures at Flora Police Department, prior to being transferred to Clay County Jail.

Saturday, December 2 at 8:56 pm, Gauge Staser, 19, of Clay City was issued a Local Ordinance Citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, following a traffic stop in the 200 block of North Mill Street. 

Saturday, December 2 at 11:17 pm, Layton Barnes, 22, of Flora was arrested for Driving While License Suspended, following a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Main Street. Barnes underwent booking procedures at Flora Police Department and was released with a Notice to Appear.
