PALESTINE, Ill. - A pre-Thanksgiving incident resulted in an intoxicated female from Indiana being removed from a residence in Palestine Wednesday.

Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing said that his department arrested the Oaktown, Indiana woman for Aggravated Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest after he and Officer Brandon Carpenter were called to a residence for an unwanted person.

At approximately 9:50 p.m. Wednesday (November 22), Heather J. Garrard-Harrington, 36, was found in a residence on Vincennes Avenue, Palestine in an intoxicated state, not having permission from the owner to be in the residence.

As Officer Carpenter told Garrard-Harrington that she had to leave, she refused and became combative, striking Officer Carpenter as hewas attempting to escort her from the residence.

She was placed under arrest and transported to the Crawford County Jail where she was charged and is being held awaiting setting of bond.
