DUI cited after Saturday traffic stop in Palestine

PALESTINE, Ill. - Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing has provided information about a traffic stop this weekend that resulted in a DUI for a local man.

Besing said that the Palestine Police Department arrested Randy A. Knapp, 55, of Palestine, after Officer Brandon Carpenter observed a vehicle driving in the wrong lane on South Jackson Street at approximately 10:47 p.m. on Saturday, November 11. 

Officer Carpenter stopped the vehicle and subsequently arrested Knapp for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving in the Wrong Lane, Operating a Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.

Knapp was transported to the Crawford County Jail where he was charged, processed and held pending posting of bond.
