CUMBERLAND CO., Ill. - Two truck drivers from Texas were injured in an accident Wednesday after following too closely in a construction zone.

Illinois State Police in District 12 said the accident occurred at 4:18 p.m. Wednesday, October 18.

Preliminary investigative details indicate that a red 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer bulling a white 2011 Utility semi-trailer and being driven by Richard A. Irving, 48, of Haltorn Cit, Texas, was traveling east on Interstate 70 near milepost 112, in the construction zone, when he was distracted inside his vehicle.

Irving was following too closely and crashed into the rear of red 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer pulling a white 2012 Utility semi-trailer being driven by Cantu F. Franco, 41, of Weslaco, Texas, exposing the load of Irving’s trailer.

Franco was transported to St. Anthony Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and both units required a tow.

Irving was cited for Following Too Closely.
