WHITE CO., Ill. - A Carmi man who's spent the past several years racking up DUIs and other offenses has been sentenced to prison for the most recent one.

Darren W. McGuire, 58, of Carmi, is the guy in question.

McGuire was sentenced this morning (Wednesday, October 11) in White County Circuit Court on his most recent arrest, which came about in mid-July.

Following the traffic stop, McGuire was charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence three or more times, which is a Class 2 felony, and Driving While License Revoked 4 to 9 times, a Class 4 felony.

Today, he took a plea and received five years in IDOC on the DUI, and 3 years on the DWLR, with two years parole on the first, and a year on the second.

White County State's Attorney Denton Aud said the sentences will run concurrently. Aud credits the Carmi Police Department as the arresting agency, noting Brian Shinkle provided defense, and T. Scott Webb as the presiding judge.
