CRAWFORD CO., Ill. -  A Humbolt man has been sentenced to a short term in Illinois Department of Corrections for a meth charge.

Joshua A. Martin, 31, was sentenced Friday, September 22, to a term of three years DOC to be followed by a year of parole, on a charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. The charge dates back to June 23 when he was picked up in Crawford from Coles County to the north.

Charges of Armed Violence and Felon in Possession or Use of a Weapon were dismissed in exchange for the plea in the Class 3 felony.

Along with his sentence, Martin will have to pay $367 in fines and fees, none of which has been paid.

Martin remains on hold for a pending Coles County case wherein he's charged with Possession of Meth dating back to April...and which makes this Crawford situation appear to have been a drug deal from out of the area, a lot of which seems to be going on lately. If you know of drug activity where you are, please let authorities know. They might not do anything about it right away...but if someone they pick up is associated with the person whose name you turned over, rest assured it'll be looked at, as authorities in our little downstate burgs are pretty much fed up with the dope-slinging going on in the area.
