ARRESTS MADE IN SEPTEMBER 21 BELLMONT SHOOTING

WABASH CO., Ill. - Wabash County Sheriff Derek Morgan has issued information on the shooting that occurred last week in the village of Bellmont.

Morgan said that last Thursday, September 21 at 11:26 p.m., the Wabash County Sheriff's Office and Illinois State Police responded to 120 E. Hackberry St. in Bellmont reference a shooting. 

Following the investigation, it was learned that Levi M.R. Glick came to the residence to speak to an occupant of that residence. An argument ensued over what was reported to be money and a firearm was displayed.  

During that argument it was reported that Mr. Glick sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh and Carlie J. Rule, 35, of Olney, sustained a gunshot to the foot.

Multiple 911 calls came in as the Sheriff's Office and ISP Troopers organized their approach to the residence.K9 Roy led deputies to the location of a firearm that had been discarded along the railroad tracks in Bellmont.

The following persons have been charged:

Levi M.R. Glick, 31, of Mt. Carmel
Home Invasion
Aggravated Battery with a Firearm
Possession of Firearm by Felon
Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm
Attempted Murder
Glick's bond has been set at $10,000 cash
 

Christopher Shaffer

Christopher A. Shaffer, 33, of Robinson
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
Unlawful Discharge of a firearm
Obstruction of Justice
Possession of Methamphetamine

Shaffer's bond has been set at $10,000 cash

Carlie J. Rule, 35 of Olney was arrested on an outstanding Jasper County, Illinois warrant and later posted $275 cash bond.

Emily Lofton

Emily J. Lofton, 29, of Bellmont, was charged with possession of methamphetamine bond being set at $4,000 cash. 

Glick, Lofton and Shaffer remain in the Wabash County Jail.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the ISP Crime Scene Unit, ISP Troopers, Bellmont Fire Department, Wabash General Ambulance Service and the Gibson County Ambulance Service.

Formal charges are expected to be filed today in Wabash County Circuit Court.
