CLAY CO.— Clay County Sheriff Andy Myers has submitted material regarding the escape of a person in custody who leaped from an ambulance this past Friday.

On September 8, 2017 at approximately 11:19 p.m. the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Salem Police Department that a subject that was being transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon by Clay County Ambulance had fled from the ambulance when it had stopped or slowed for traffic in Salem.

Prior to this incident 31-year-old Alan J. Ksiazkiewicz was granted a medical furlough from the custody of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office in order to be transferred from Clay County Hospital to Good Samaritan Hospital to receive treatment for a serious preexisting medical condition.

While being transported, Ksiazkiewicz got up in the back of the ambulance, opened the door and exited the ambulance when the ambulance was delayed by a semi in the roadway in Salem.

Due to Ksiazkiewicz violating the terms of the medical furlough, he was taken into custody by the Salem Police Department and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Ksiazkiewicz was later released to the custody of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office who assisted the Clay County Ambulance in transporting Ksiazkiewicz to Good Samaritan, where he remained in the custody of the sheriff’s office.

Ksiazkiewicz has since been transported back to the Clay County Jail, where he is awaiting his next court appearance.
