JASPER CO., Ill. - A woman from Wheeler was injured this morning not far from home when she swerved to avoid a deer and rolled her vehicle.

Illinois State Police in District 12 said the single-vehicle wreck occurred this morning (Monday, September 11) at 6 a.m. two miles southwest of the village of Wheeler in Jasper County.

At that time, Lori A. Westendorf, 52, of Wheeler, driving a red 2007 Chevrolet pickup, was traveling south on Jasper County Road 350E south of County Road 900N when she exited the west side of the roadway to avoid deer crossing the roadway.

The truck then struck the ditch and rolled onto its side.

Westendorf was flown to Carle Hospital in Champaign; no citations have been issued.
