JASPER CO., Ill. - Two people on a motorcycle were injured this morning after they had to take evasive action to not collide with a vehicle, whose driver, ISP said, failed to signal a turn.

ISP District 12 worked the scene, located approximately two miles north of Yale on Illinois Route 49 in Jasper County, at 9:50 a.m. this morning, Saturday, July 15.

ISP said that a white Dodge van being driven by Scott A. Hamilton, 37, of Robinson, and a 2013 black Harley being operated by John D. Boatright, 51, of Sandoval, were both traveling northbound just north of Jasper County Road 200N on 49. With Boatright was a passenger, Tammy S. Boatright, 48, also of Sandoval.

Hamilton, ISP said, slowed the van and attempted to turn in a private lane without signaling. The motorcycle passed the van; however, the van entered the southbound lane of traffic, causing Boatright to lay the bike down to avoid a collision. ISP said no contact was made between the two vehicles.

The Boatrights were transported to Carle Hospital in Urbana for what ISP termed as non-life-threatening injuries.

Hamilton was cited for Failure to Signal when Required.
