PALESTINE, Ill. - The constable and crew in Palestine have been busy capturing other county's wanted peeps...and one Thursday was caught after a short-lived foot chase.

A couple of weeks ago it was Tie-Fan-Eye Lindemann, of Jasper County, wanted on an Effingham warrant.

This week, it's Jesse L. Cochran, of Palestine, but wanted in Lawrence.

Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing said that at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13, the Palestine Police Department received information of a wanted subject (Jesse L. Cochran, age: 41 of Palestine) hiding in a garage or residence at 303 S. Jackson Street, Palestine.

Chief Jeff Besing and Officer Brandon Carpenter went to this address and searched the open garage and then went to the residence at 303 S. Jackson Street. While obtaining permission to search the residence, dispatch advised that they had received a 911 call from a neighbor advising that a male subject was running through their yard south of the suspect residence.

Officer Carpenter proceeded in the direction of the bridge construction (Route #33/South Jackson Street) where he spotted the male suspect and engaged in a foot pursuit across the construction site.

Officer Carpenter caught the suspect and took him into custody. Cochran was transported to the Crawford County Jail, charged with Resisting a Peace Officer and a Failure to Appear warrant from Lawrence County.

Cochran is being held in the Crawford County Jail pending bond and possible extradition back to Lawrence County.

Additional charges may be forthcoming based on this investigation
