WHITE COUNTY: Domestic batterer headed to prison

WHITE CO., Ill. - A Carmi domestic batterer is headed right where all domestic batterers belong: Behind bars.

White County State's Attorney Denton Aud said that an afternoon hearing earlier today (Thursday, June 15) produced a plea deal on the charge against Daniel R. Guffey III, 27, which was filed in early March of this year.

In exchange for the plea, Guffey received a sentence of 3 years in Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by 4 years of Mandatory Supervised Release (MSR, or, parole). As part of the plea to the Class 4 felony, a Class 3 felony of Domestic Battery with Bodily Harm with three prior convictions (even at his tender young age; that's a lot of convictions) was dismissed, as well as Class 4 felony Criminal Trespass to Residence with Persons Present, and misdemeanor Violating Stalking/No-Contact Order, Interfering with a Report of Domestic Violence and Criminal Damage to Property counts were all dismissed.

He was also ordered to pay all mandated fines, fees, costs and assessments, the amount of which was not listed, which probably doesn't matter much, as he owes well over $2,700 in other White County cases.
