SALINE COUNTY: Repeat offender sentenced to 12 years in prison
SALINE CO., Ill. - Another convicted felon is being added to the IDOC rolls out of Saline County.
Saline County State's Attorney Jayson Clark said that on June 7, 2017, Larry W. Harris, Jr., age 42, of Harrisburg, Illinois entered pleas of guilty in Saline County, Illinois Circuit Court to a Class 2 felony charge of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, a Class 4 felony charge of Driving While Driver's License is Revoked (Enhanced Sentence) and a Class 2 felony charge of Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine (Violation of Probation). Judge Walden E. Morris sentenced Harris to a total of 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, with 2 years of mandatory supervised release in the three separate cases.
On June 22, 2015, the Saline County State’s Attorney’s Office filed charges against Harris arising out of an incident in which it was alleged that Harris unlawfully possessed a set of brass knuckles. Then on June 29, 2016, the Saline County State’s Attorney’s Office filed additional charges against Harris arising out of a separate incident where he was caught driving a vehicle while his driver's license was revoked. On December 6, 2016 an amended petition charging violation of probation was filed by the Saline County State's Attorney's Office charging Harris with violating his probation based on the new offenses committed by Harris.
he investigation of Harris’s cases was led by Officer Brent Davis of the Harrisburg Police Department and Deputy Steve Sloan of the Saline County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant State’s Attorney Jason Olson handled the successful prosecution of the cases.
