KNOX COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the closure of a ramp from U.S. 41 to U.S. 50 as a part of a bridge rehabilitation project.
Beginning on or after Monday, April 24, E & B Paving crews will close the ramp from U.S. 41 southbound to U.S. 50 eastbound toward Lawrenceville, Illinois. During the closure, the contractor will begin a bridge rehabilitation project on bridges just west of the Old S.R. 67 overpass on U.S. 50. The bridges will receive a complete deck rehabilitation.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in either direction during the construction. No traffic will be allowed on the ramp from U.S. 41 southbound to U.S. 50 westbound. The official detour uses the existing cloverleaf interchange in that location. The official traffic pattern for the detour is as follows:
- From Southbound U.S. 41 exit onto eastbound U.S. 50/ southbound U.S. 41,
- From eastbound U.S. 50/ southbound U.S. 41 exit to northbound U.S. 41,
- From Northbound U.S. 41 exit to westbound U.S. 50.
Signage will be in place marking the detour. The ramp closure will be in place around the clock until the end of the construction season in mid to late November. INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
Motorists can learn about highway work zones and other traffic alerts at indot.carsprogram.org, 1-800-261-ROAD (7623) or 511 from a mobile phone.
