Sex predator gets 15 years; 10 handed down for burglar
HAMILTON CO., Ill. — Two men have been sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) in Hamilton County, including a burglar and sex predator.
Thomas C. Garrison, 34, of McLeansboro pleaded guilty to felony Burglary.
He will serve 10 years in the IDOC and serve 2 years of Mandatory Supervised Release once he gets out of prison.
Garrison broke into the Town and Country Veterinary Clinic on September 22, 2016 and stole a green Stack On gun safe.
The safe fell out of the truck he was driving as he drove away from the scene and two people called in to 911 that a safe had fallen out of the truck.
A piece of the safe was later recovered from the truck he was driving.
The investigation was conducted by the Hamilton County Sheriff Department and assisted by the Illinois State Police and McLeansboro Police Department.
He is currently serving a two-year sentence for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine in the IDOC.
This sentence will run consecutive to his 10-year sentence for the burglary.
Predator gets 15 years
Brett H. Ewald, 18, of Dahlgren, pleaded guilty to Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and will serve a 15 year sentence on the Class X felony.
He will have to serve a term of Mandatory Supervised Release once he is released from custody for a term of 3 years to Life to be determined by Department of Corrections.
He admitted to committing an act of penetration with his mouth on a juvenile female under the age of 13, and the event occurred between July 4, 2016 and November 24, 2016.
The case was investigated by Illinois State Police.
