Action early this morning at the Circle K

JACKSON CO., Ill. - Authorities were called to the scene of yet another Circle K robbery very early this morning, this one in Murphysboro in Jackson County.

The incident happened at about 4:30 today (Saturday, January 7, 2017) on the city's north side.

Authorities told those on-scene that the robbery attempt was made, with at least one person brandishing a weapon, by two males.

The weapon turned out to be either an airsoft or bb gun, the type a person can pick up at Walmart for considerably less expense than a real gun.

The alleged robber had another strike against him, too: He was in an allegedly stolen vehicle. This is the vehicle:

The blue PT cruiser was where the weapon was found; it was being processed when the photos were taken.

This Circle K has been the scene of several robberies over the past couple of years. Most of the robbery suspects are apprehended thanks to the fast work of Murphysboro police, who are among the best in the area; they're aware that a lot of Chicago-area thugs come down to Carbondale on the Amtrak train and ply their trade on what they "think" is a less-protected community than C-dale...only to find out that they're very wrong on that.

If anything else develops, we'll bring it. Keep checking back.
