HARDIN CO., Ill./SOUTHEASTERN MISSOURI---Several Hardin County residents reported feeling a thump last night at the same time the bootheel of Missouri experienced a magnitude 3.6 earthquake.

Even along the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ), a 3.6 is a little bit more of a significant quake than the usual 2.0+ quakes they get on a regular basis.

Our Hardin sources reported that they "felt the whole house shake" or "felt a huge 'bump' or 'thump'" at nine minutes til eleven last night, this when the quake was reported on the NMSZ.

The fact that the quake was felt as far away as Hardin County, however, is of interest because it's exactly along the substructure of the NMSZ faultline that runs up under the Ohio River and, if that one should ever "go," it would be catastrophic for those along the banks of the Ohio.

Below are a few maps and screenshots that give you a perspective of where the quake was in relation to Hardin.
