CRAWFORD CO.--An autopsy has been conducted in the August 21 death of a man found at a residence in rural Flat Rock.

The results have revealed that Norman England, 74, of Freelandville, Ind. died from a gunshot wound.

Sheriff Todd Liston told Disclosure that the Illinois State Police is currently working on the investigation and ISP Crime Scene Services have collected "substantial forensic evidence" that will need to be evaluated in the case; and that it will take several weeks or more for the evidence to be fully evaluated.

At this point officials believe there is no reason the citizens should be concerned.

Here is a link to the original story from Aug. 22.

I am so confused on this. They arrested a man for the burglary, that Norm reported, I’m guessing he might have been going there to go fishing in the pond my grandfather had built on the property, and found the stuff gone, so he reported it. Then the police come back the next day and find him shot in the house?
The guy that is arrested they say is a whole different thing than the homicide, so apparently they are not claiming him as even a suspect?
So who IS the suspect? I don’t understand the secrecy of this investigation. I mean, its been over a week now and there are NO leads, nothing to even go on, this can’t just be a random fluke. There is something going on here. Something odd and I would be looking more at the son, the homeowner, if I were the police. He has been known around the town and by many to be unstable, a drug user, and a child molester.

    • Actually, they found him outside from what we understand. And for them to say “the public is in no danger” is unbelievable…the only time you say that is when it’s a suicide, which this obviously was not. A killer is loose…ergo the general public is in danger.
