BENTON---Remember this article from the other day?

Turns out it probably was synthetics, as many were fearing...but what kind, exactly, is unclear.

The Southern Illinoisan had it first---an arrest warrant has been issued, and here it is in part:

Franklin County State’s Attorney Office has issued an arrest warrant for Erin Williams, a clerk at The Smoke Break in Benton.

Williams was charged with four counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance analog within 1,000 feet of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton, each a Class 2 felony.

A search warrant for The Smoke Break was also obtained to search the premises based upon an investigation conducted by Benton Police and Illinois State Police.

Read the rest at this link.

Was the bust as a result of information the Illinois State Police obtained during a traffic stop outside of Hog Rock Campgrounds during The Gathering of the Juggalos? Maybe. We'll follow the case, and see where it leads...as of right now, however, Erin Williams isn't in custody. When this happens, we'll try to get it to you. Keep checking back.

Frankendope...synth...don't do it, seriously...

  1. Errata

Seems kinda ridiculous to charge a lowly clerk with two felonies when she was presumably not the person who made the decision to sell the stuff (or reap the profits) in the first place. Who owns the store? Who’s the manager? Seems to me that those are the people the cops should be going after.
